Workcamps ab 30 Jahren
Vermittlungsgebühr 120 EUR (+ teilw. Extra Fee)
Viele Länder haben eine Altersbeschränkung von 30 Jahren, die allerdings nicht sehr strikt gehandhabt wird. Keine Chance auf eine Teilnahme besteht lediglich in Kanada (CJ), Polen, Spanien und Portugal.
Grundsätzlich können alle Camps aus dem Programm in folgenden Ländern gewählt werden:
Armenien, Bosnien-Herzegowina, Dänemark, Estland, Frankreich, Grönland, Italien, Japan, Kroatien, Litauen, Marokko, Malaysia, Mexiko, Mongolei, Niederlande, Peru, Russland, Serbien, Slowakei, Südkorea, Thailand, Tschechien, Türkei, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam und Weißrussland.
Wir empfehlen hier aber, nicht die klassischen europäischen Reiseziele wie Frankreich oder Italien zu wählen und sich generell für Camps außerhalb der Schulferienzeit zu entscheiden. Der Altersdurchschnitt der Teilnehmer liegt hier nämlich, vor allem in den Sommermonaten, bei ca. 20 Jahren.
In Ländern, die weniger bekannte Reiseziele sind, liegt der Altersdurchschnitt wesentlich höher! Einige Organisationen bieten sogar Camps an, die in erster Linie für ältere Teilnehmer angeboten werden:

WORK: The municipality of Syros has a large network of pedestrian routes. The friends of nature will be surprised in Syros, since this time the routes that they will work in, will not cover only distances of space but of time as well. Syros is an alive museum of cultures, a "capsule of time", that with incredible speed takes the visitor in an absolutely natural way from one time period to the other. That surely impresses and charms. Some of the routes that the participants will work on are: Path Number 6. The footpath that has been chosen for conservation and reconstruction is situated in Northern Syros, in the area of Ano Meria. The passage is distinguished by its natural beauty and is protected by the Natura 2000 EU Birds Directive. The path name is Papouri - Aetos river - Varvousa coast (an alternative part towards Aetos coast), that is characterized as a path of historical and cultural interest of Syros (number 6) and connects the traditional rural settlement Papouri with the West coast of Ano Meria. The Papouri footpath, starts with a small part of cement paved, and goes on as a natural footpath with stone pavement. For the most of its length, the path is parallel to a canal.
ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation will be provided in local traditional dorms in the area of church St. Cyril-Methodius in the area of Mega Gialos. The facilities include comfortable common sleeping room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms and toilets as well as tents on the compound, outside of the dorm are also available. Alcohol consumption is typically prohibited inside the accommodation. Two of the group, everyday in shifts, will be responsible for maintaining the group accommodation place clean, as well as for the preparation of all the meals of the day for the rest of the group.
LOCATION & LEISURE: The camp will take place in the beautiful island of Syros, administrative centre of the Cyclades prefecture. Close to Piraeus, Syros is connected by ferry with many Cycladic islands. Syros, like other Cycladic islands, was inhabited from the early prehistoric times. After the overthrow of the Byzantium by the Francs in 1204, Syros came under Venetian domination. The island became part of the Ducat of the Aegean as an independent feudal regime and remained as such for almost three and a half centuries. Syros is accessible from Piraeus harbour (Athens), the normal ferry boat is taking around 4 hours travel time (one-way ticket 29€). In their free time, volunteers will have the opportunity to get in touch with the everyday life of the island; they may attend events organised by the authorities during the period of their stay (concerts, performances, etc.) and communicate with locals and tourists. Volunteers will discuss their free time activities with their camp leader; together they are going to organise excursions and visits around the area.

EXTRA FEE: 150€ to cover the expenses of accommodation and food. Volunteers will be insured against accidents for the whole duration of the workcamp.

USA VFP15-12 SHARING CULTURE WITH YOUTH, VERMONT (BURLINGTON) 21.07.-12.08.2012 KIDS/EDU/CULT/SENIOR 10vols (no more female)

PROJECT: The KING STREET CENTER is hosting its 6th group of international volunteers. King Street is a not- for-profit organization located in the heart of Burlington that annually serves more than 500 children and families. Our high quality programs build academic skills, improve physical fitness, and develop the fortitude needed to succeed at home, in school, and in life. WORK: Volunteers will work with our 6-person summer camp staff Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, serving children ages 6-12. Vols will assist staff with daily activities including prepping program spaces, planning daily activities, serving snack and lunch, and cleaning up at the end of the day. There will be opportunities for volunteers to plan and implement activities based on some of their own interests and/or games or activities from their own countries.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: The Friends Meeting House. Volunteers will help with meal preparation.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Burlington is the largest city in Vermont with a population of 38,000. It is located on the shores of Lake Champlain. It is less than 2 hours south of Montreal or 4 hours from Boston, MA. LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Vermont is a small state and there will be opportunity to hike mountains and visit other areas as well. Local festivals, hiking, swimming, biking, baseball game- Activities will be planned based on volunteer interests. There will also be activities with members of The Burlington Friends Meeting and informal discussions around peace and justice issues.
STUDY THEME: Sharing of culture. VFP Alliance 30th year anniversary looking at the past, thinking towards the future.
REQUIREMENTS: VFP Motivation Form and Child Protection Form required. Volunteers must be motivated to participate in discussions around peace, freedom and war. Please share this motivation on your VEF. Volunteers must enjoy spending time and working with children. Mixed Age Camp, older volunteers welcome.
USA VFP18-12 HISTORICAL BARN RESTORATION, VERMONT (BENSON) 05.08.-17.08.2012 RENO/AGRI/MANU/SENIOR 10vols
PROJECT: The OLD KING FARM is a non-political ecumenical meditational and ecological center on a bio-dynamic farm. We steward 9 historical handcrafted barns which desperately need rescue and revitalizing.
WORK: We need workers to help disassemble old wood from 2 small barns, sort and stack lumber, assist with simple diffing and cement work, also helping in the organic gardens and orchard. Skills taught as we work together with a carpenter/boat builder supervising.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: In a barn on cots, real food shared in a communal dining hall, lunches on work days prepared by a chef. Weekly access to laundry and full bathrooms. Tenting optional.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: Old King Farm is located in a rural setting with archeological sites, next to Shaw Mountain nature Reserve, two miles from the quaint village of Benson and near the southern edge of Lake Champlain.
STUDY THEME: Environmental conservation, history, sustainable agriculture, herbs and Eastern religions.
REQUIREMENTS: We request a sober workplace, smoking away from buildings and a midnight curfew. This is a technology free camp. Mixed age camp, older volunteers welcome.
USA VFP20-12 RUSTIC CABIN BUILDING, COLORADO (ASPEN) 11.08.-25.08.2012 ENVI/CONS/SENIOR 10vols (no more female)
This is a mixed age camp.
PROJECT: FRYING PAN WILDERNESS, CARBONDALE, COLORADO
WORK: The Aspen Public Schools run a wilderness cabin (8400 ft / 2250 meters elevation) that is in need of repair. Volunteers will install a primitive outdoor shower, insulate under the cabin, build rustic furniture, work on a low ropes challenge course and other projects. Training will be provided, but initiative is a must. Volunteers will also work with Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers on trail maintenance in the wilderness. Sturdy, warm outdoor clothing, boots, work gloves and a sleeping bag are required. Trail work may reach 11,000 ft / 3,350 meters.
ACCOMODATION AND FOOD: Volunteers will be housed in the primitive cabin with no electricity in a common bunk room, or can choose to bring tents and camp. Participants should bring sleeping bags and pillows, mattresses provided. We will have a camp shower after we build it. There is no hot running water (but we can heat it for the shower). Only outhouses are available. We will share the cooking.
LOCATION AND LEISURE: The cabin is located about 45 minutes from Aspen or Glenwood Springs in a beautiful, remote location adjacent to the Frying Pan Wilderness. Participants may want to bring backpacking equipment. LEISURE ACTIVITIES: We will spend some evenings at free outdoor concerts in Aspen or nearby towns, but most of the time we ll provide our own entertainment around the campfire or hiking trails or swimming / boating on a reservoir. There is no cell phone service or internet access in the wilderness.
STUDY THEME: Sustainable construction and trail maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS: Willingness to be away from civilization for days at a time. Mixed age camp, older volunteers welcome.
