PROJECT: The project takes place in Kysice, a tiny village in Western Bohemia located just 4 km from Pilsen, European Cultural Capital 2015. You will mainly support the local community to improve the look of the village and organize activities for the local kids.
WORK: Firstly, the volunteers will help to maintain and improve the village. The main task is to dismantle the fence around the local town hall, plant a hedge instead and clean the area in front of the town hall.
Secondly, the volunteers will help to organize a day of activities for local children at the end of their summer holidays. They will prepare an afternoon full of games and competitions for children aged from 3 to 12 years. Every participant should prepare games and competitions for children that are typical for their regions of origin. Bring anything special you may need for the preparations and which could be unavailable in the Czech Republic. Musical instruments are also very welcome.
STUDY PART: An excursion to the Brewery Museum in Pilsen or the Pilsen brewery itself is planned. You will also learn more about the history of the village Kysice from a local historian and visit an exhibition of historical photographs. It’s possible to organize an intercultural evening, so take some pictures and music that represents you and some interesting recipes with you.
LEISURE TIME: There are plenty of activities the volunteers can do during their free time: have a campfire or a barbeque; do sports such as volleyball, foot tennis and handball; go hiking and cycling in the surroundings (bicycles will be provided by the village); visit of the zoo. During your stay a second Workcamp will take place in one of the neighbouring villages – it will be possible to meet with the volunteers and plan some activities together.

Bring your own sleeping bag. Lunches will be prepared by the locals, the volunteers will prepare their own breakfast and dinner.

PROJECT: The project is organized in co-operation with the Czech national section of EUROSOLAR. This organisation is dealing with the promotion of renewable energies and direct ecological education in the nature. It takes place in an abandoned but exceptionally beautiful, hilly area of Cesky les (The Bohemain Forest), near the western border of the Czech Republic. The campsite is totally isolated from civilization (the nearest Czech village is about 11 km away). This project is recommended to volunteers that are fond of trying out a basic life within nature and do not mind longer walks.
WORK: The volunteers will work in a nature reserve about 4 km from the camping place, as well as directly on the site where they will be lodged. The main work will consist of cutting grass on protected meadows, raking grass, collecting biomass and maintenance works on the camping place such as preparing wood, cleaning the surrounding area, constructing a fence for a tree garden and similar manual work. As the meadows can be very wet, bring waterproof working shoes (or rubber boots) and rain-gear.
STUDY PART: A lecture and seminar about the environmental conditions in the formerly closed boarder area (Iron Curtain area), where the camp is located. If conditions allow we can try out beaver-watching and observation of other wild animal directly in nature. As you are living in close contact with the nature you will improve your camping skills as well.
LEISURE TIME: Hiking in the surrounding nature, excursions to an old military watch tower, nearby villages and small towns. As the project is situated directly at the boarder to Germany, a trip to Germany can be included as well. In the free afternoons, you can play games and try our artistic work with wood. If you have an EU-driving license, bring it with you as well.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD: In tee-pees (Indian tents with a fire place in the middle) on wooden pads. You will cook for yourself from provided resources at freestanding cooking places inside and outside the tee-pees. The food is ONLY vegetarian and vegan, bring a bowl/plate for eating, cutlery and a cup. The consumption of alcohol is not allowed at the camp side. The nights in the forest are cold, so bring a very warm sleeping bag, a sleeping mat and an extra blanket or a cover for a hey-mattress. You will wash yourself in a small stream with quite a cold water which flows through the camp. The consumption of alcohol and drugs is forbidden!
LOCATION: Stoupa, an isolated part of the village of Lesna in the Czech forest. The nearest town is Tachov.

PROJECT: The project is organized in cooperation with the local NGO Cmelak - Friends of Nature Society, whose activities are focused on the support of a sustainable way of life, practical nature protection and environmental education. The aim of their projects is to restore the natural forest on specific pieces of land and to save endangered tree species. The Workcamp takes place in one of those pieces of land in a mountainous area around the city of Liberec (Northern Bohemia, close to the Polish and German borders).
WORK: The main aim of the project is to support the NGO Cmelak with its manual work outdoors in the mountainous area. The volunteers will plant seedlings of trees and clean branches after cutting down trees in the area. This will allow the growth of a mixed forest which should resemble to the natural state of a forest. According to the current needs this work could be replaced by similar tasks (help with growing seedlings) in a tree nursery. This project is designed for people who are willing and able to do hard manual work and who are prepared to work outdoors in all types of weather (in the mountains it will be cold, rainy and windy). Water-proof clothes and very good working boots are necessary.
LEISURE TIME: You can go hiking in the beautiful surrounding landscape and make trips to Liberec, a town that offers many cultural events like concerts or theatre performances.
STUDY PART: During the project you can learn a lot about nature protection in one of the most beautiful forest areas in Bohemia. It will be possible to organize discussions with pupils from a high-school in Liberec, visit the seat of the NGO Cmelak and have excursions with a lecturer to the forests owned by the organization.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD: The volunteers will sleep in beds in a basic accommodation at the outskirts of Liberec. A common room, a kitchen, showers with hot water and toilets will be provided. The group will prepare the meals on their own. Bring a sleeping bag, a sleeping mattress and slippers with you!
LOCATION: Outskirts of Liberec and the surrounding mountains, Northern Bohemia.

Motivation Letter needed.
PROJECT: The project is held in Osinalice, a small village in Western Bohemia situated in a beautiful countryside with the famous Machovo Lake and the Bezdez Castle. The project is organized by the association "DoNitra" which runs an organic farm on which experiential educational courses (art, handcraft, self-awareness) are held. The courses focus on the development of skills and abilities which lead to self-sufficiency, self-awareness, courage and a deeper contact with the nature.
WORK: The aim of the Workcamp is to teach the participants how to manage and carry out your own project. There will be three construction projects proposed to the volunteers (greenhouse/multi-purpose woodshed/garden) and one programme project (garden festival). The volunteers will choose one of the construction projects to be carried out together within two weeks. They can be assisted by a professional stonemason, bricklayer or carpenter. At the final weekend, the volunteers will have the opportunity to prepare the garden festival. This event is held regularly for friends of the "DoNitra" association, the village of Osinalice and participants of the courses given by "DoNitra". There will be also different theatre and music performances. The event starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday afternoon.
STUDY PART: Arts workshops (stone carving, forging, wood carving), international evenings organised by the volunteers, workshops and activities with local children are planned.
LEISURE TIME: Cycling (there are 10 bicycles available), hiking, arts workshops, relaxing at a public swimming pool.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD: In a reconstructed farm building. Bring your own sleeping bags. The volunteers will prepare their own meals from common resources.
